Puketapu Historical Sources — An Annotated Guide
Puketapu ki Paraparaumu · Historical sources and connected stories
The historical account
Start with the hapū account
Te Kāhui Mahi’s Our Whakapapa is the central published account for the hapū’s own description of identity, migration, settlement and purpose. Use its wording and attribution when summarising that perspective.
Compare public heritage sources
Kāpiti Coast District Council’s Te Uruhi page and Paraparaumu heritage brochure provide a publicly accessible chronology and historic illustration leads. Their accounts should be cited as council heritage interpretations, rather than as statements made by the hapū.
Follow archival leads
The National Library’s Adkin catalogue record identifies a manuscript collection for closer inspection. A catalogue entry is not a verified page citation. The planning assessment supplies a further published reference to cultural and land-history evidence.
