Te Ara image and map rights
The GNS Science photograph by Lloyd Homer requires permission; Te Ara map warns reproduction may infringe copyright. Link rather than embedding without clearance.
An image is not automatically available for republication
Te Ara makes historical information publicly accessible, but this does not mean every photograph, map or reproduction on the site is freely licensed for use in WhaleLIBRARY. The collection identifies a Lloyd Homer image credited to GNS Science and an associated historical map for which rights require separate attention.
The public reading experience
Until rights are cleared, retain links to the original online records, accurate collection credits and descriptive captions. An image-rights entry is a research and provenance record; it should not be presented as though it were an event in nineteenth-century history.
